PRESS RELEASE FOR MERCURY GETS A MOON
BY ANDREW D. HUBER
November 24, 2014
NorthLight Records is pleased to announce the release of Mercury Gets A Moon, the fourth full-length album from midwest songwriter Andrew D. Huber.
Songwriter Andrew D. Huber is well-known as an accomplished writer and engaging performer in various folk-rock circles of the midwest. Playing his trademarked “acoustic folk-rock with a celtic twist” regularly throughout IL, WI, and MN, his previous releases have garnered hard-won critical comparisons to Great Big Sea, R.E.M., Paul Simon, and even Bob Dylan.
From the layered fade in of the title track to the gentle wave of the closing “Noah Had It Right”, the album offers 15 tracks of acoustically-based heartfelt songs infused with heavy doses of celtic melody, instrumentation, and phrasing.
Highlights of Mercury Gets A Moon include the melancholic beauty of "Broken Sky", the Irish-pub-howl of "Two-Drink Charlie", the sinister stomp of “Tell the Devil”, the anthemic “Don’t Tell Me of the Sea”, and the pure pop bliss of “My Heart Somewhere”.
Recorded with the core team of Huber (vocals, guitars, mandolin, bass, etc), Jo Marie Sison (violin), and Anthony Jay Houston (drums and percussion), the album is musically impressive, lyrically captivating, and stands out as an authentic gut-check of sincerity, spirit, and craft.
