NorthLight Records is pleased to announce the release of Sailor’s Rescue, the seventh full-length album from songwriter and Celtic folk-rock troubadour Andrew D. Huber. Since his last full-length outing (2021’s Chasing Time) songwriter and Celtic folk-rock troubadour Andrew D. Huber has kept up with his audience by playing a relentless amount of live shows and offering a handful of singles and remixes from the celebrated album. His efforts yielded great reward, as the album garnered well-deserved attention on both sides of the Atlantic and helped to open doors that led to a number of high profile performances, including an opening slot for Celtic folk-rock legends the High Kings as they stormed Chicagoland in 2023.

On Sailor’s Rescue, Huber casts off confident and ready, navigating themes of elation, risk, grief, and resilience throughout the album, showcasing a writer and performer who is very comfortable following his own map.

Song-for-song, Sailor’s Rescue is a stalwart representation of Huber’s songwriting prowess — the melodies, lyrics, and stories soar and swell in a manner that is simply captivating. The rousing opener “Here with Me” is fueled by pure gratitude for his collaborators and audience, and carries the same sonic punch as Fisherman’s Blues-era Waterboys. That energy is matched in the pub-rock howl of “Kickin’ Whiskey” “47 Rovers”, and “Hallelujah Amen”, the latter of which serves as a joyous testimony to Huber’s love of the craft. Huber’s pop sensibilities are displayed within the lush and bittersweet “Drift and Flow” and infectious choruses of “Tractor Beam”, and tongue-in-cheek playfulness of “(Can’t Wait to Miss) The Rest”.

As on previous outings, Huber gives equal voice to the quieter songs, offering true-to-life tales of stunning betrayal, struggle, and grief in the achingly gorgeous selections “Foxhole”, “Sailor Grey”, and “Lutsen”, a trio of emotional gut-punches that are evenly spaced throughout the album. The lyrically dystopian duo of “How Many Feathers?” and “Shake the Sin” shine a light on Huber’s Americana influence, and foreshadow the dark tale of the album’s closer, “Lydia Dale”, a harrowing story of a hard to explain death aboard the ship Betsie Current ship on Lake Michigan in 1880. Bookended by haunting instrumental sections, “Lydia Dale” is a standout of cinematic-level writing in Huber’s catalogue.

With clear influences from the giants of Celtic infused folk-rock on his sleeve, Sailor’s Rescue stands as a testament to Huber’s own voice and dedication to his songwriting craft. Sailor’s Rescue is available in both digital and physical formats. For additional information, bookings, or further contact, please visit www.andrewdhuber.com or write geckoclub@aol.com.
